"The party of ideas has become the party of Beavis and Butthead."

What should government do? A Jindal meditation

Paul Krugman on Lousiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's response to President Obama last night:

*"And leaving aside the chutzpah of casting the failure of his own party's governance as proof that government can't work, does he really think that the response to natural disasters like Katrina is best undertaken by uncoordinated private action? Hey, why bother having an army? Let's just rely on self-defense by armed citizens."

"The intellectual incoherence is stunning. Basically, the political philosophy of the GOP right now seems to consist of snickering at stuff that they think sounds funny. The party of ideas has become the party of Beavis and Butthead."

Thanks ToniD.. :)

Moral Bar

by digby

On president's day the gasbags are arguing about whether or not its fair that the historians have put George W. Bush at the bottom of presidential rankings. Howard Finemen wondered if it's reasonable to rank him with those president's who've traditionally been at the bottom because of their immoral stand on slavery.

I dunno. I think ordering anal rape ranks right down there on the immorality scale. But it is a very low bar.

The Party of George W. Bush

Yes, but unfortunately, and as is expected, the true believers are angry at Obama
for increasing the deficit, when they hardly even cared when Dubya was doing it.

I guess it's OK to borrow money to wage wars. It's only a problem if you want to
create jobs, fix our crumbling infrastructure, and other Commie ideas like that.

And if the Democrats would point that out - how could they ever lose an election?

Bush CHOSE to invade Iraq so he could steal their oil and the Democrats laid down.
Obama CHOSE to stop Bush's job hemorrhage and the Fascist dogs attacked him for it.

If Joe Six Pack had any idea what the GOP did to him he'd be furious as hell
but as long as the Dems refuse to speak it, the only truth people hear is from the cable whores,
the talk radio Nazis and the NYWTimes/WaHoPo, pro-GOP whore media.

Kissing The Arses of The Rich

I was watching MSNBC's Morning Joe (I prefer calling it Morning Blow) this morning and Jack Welch, former CEO of GE, was a guest. As Jack was walking on the set, Mika Brzezinski, co-host of the show, excitedly gets up giggling with glee and says, "Oh, he's here!" and runs over to greet Jack.

After Mika fawns all over Jack Welch, the discussion turns to the cap Obama wants on CEOs salaries and "business practices" of partying with taxpayers money. This was Jack Welch's comment, paraphrased. "I got two banks that want my business. One wants to take me to lunch at McDonalds. The other wants to take me on an all-expenses paid trip to the Bahamas. Which bank am I going to give my business to, Mika? Huh?"

Isn't that bribery?

It gets better. The conversation soon turns to Bernard Madoff and his 50 BILLION dollar ponzi scheme. Mika's comment was so memorable I had to preserve it in a phototoon.

Where did that reporter in you go to, Meeka?
